WHAT TO EXPECT

Together we will focus on your concerns and prioritise any stresses or issues that you are experiencing. We will explore the past and present and look at any learnt patterns of behaviour or thought that may have developed. 


 

What to Expect in Our First Session

In our first meeting, we’ll begin with an assessment. This helps me understand a little more about your background, what’s brought you to counselling, and the areas you’d like to explore. It’s also a chance for us to see how we work together,  whether you feel comfortable, and if my approach feels like a good fit for your needs.

We’ll go over the counselling agreement, including practical details like confidentiality, session structure, and scheduling. Sessions are held once a week. Ideally, we’ll meet on the same day and time each week this helps build consistency and makes it easier to stay connected to the work we’re doing together.

Each session lasts 50 minutes.

I ask for a minimum commitment of six sessions. This gives us time to build trust, explore your concerns at a meaningful pace, and begin to notice deeper patterns that may not surface in just one or two meetings. From there, we can check in regularly to reflect on your progress and make decisions about continuing based on your needs and goals.

Over time, counselling can help you:


  • Develop stronger communication skills
     
  • Learn how to express your emotions more openly and safely
     
  • Explore and shift unhelpful thought patterns
     
  • Build emotional resilience
     
  • Learn strategies to better manage stress and anxiety
     

Ultimately, this space is for you to feel heard, supported, and empowered to make the changes you want in your life.
